PCE Concrete Admixture – Naphthalene Replacement Solution | Kaiyuda

The second-generation water reducing agent, naphthalene sulfonate superplasticizer, once played a doninant role in the field of concrete admixtures. However, as the demand for high-performance concrete admixtures has increased, its limitations have become increasingly evident: lower water-reducing efficiency, poor slump retention, and weak compatibility with different types of cement.

Today, the polycarboxylate superplasticizer (PCE) has emerged as the next-generation solution, offering with a wide range of advantages that allow it to completely replace naphthalene-based products.

Higher Water Reducing Rate

Our polycarboxylate superplasticizers can reach a water reduction rate of 25%–45%, significantly higher than the 15%–20% typical of naphthalene superplasticizers. Among our product line, KYD-A and KYD-L are water-reducing type which effectively lower the water-cement ratio, thus achieving denser structures and higher strength concrete.

Excellent Slump Retention

Thanks to their unique comb-like molecular structure, PCEs provide excellent dispersion and long-lasting workability. Our Kaiyuda polycarboxylate superplasticizer series provides customised solutions for various concrete requirements. KYD-B and KYD-F are water-reducing and slump-retaining type, combining high water reduction efficiency with flowability retention. KYD-D and KYD-K are slump retention type, providing long-lasting fluidity and stability—perfect for long-distance transportation and complex construction projects. In contrast, naphthalene sulfonate superplasticizers often cause rapid slump loss in concrete applications.

Stronger Compatibility

The molecular design of polycarboxylate-based water reducing agent allows customization for different cements and mineral admixtures, minimising the possibility of incompatibility. Naphthalene superplasticizers, by comparison, frequently have adaptability problems.

Enhanced Concrete Performance

Beyond workability, PCE-based water reducing agents improve both early and later strength, enhance durability, and are widely used in high-strength concrete, self-compacting concrete, mass concrete, and infrastructure projects. Due to a lower dosage and a more eco-friendly production process, they also offer more economic and sustainability benefits.

The Polycarboxylate Superplasticizer Powder is more than just an alternative to naphthalene-based superplasticizers—it is a better, greener, and more cost-effective concrete admixture that drives the development of modern concrete technology and meets special demands of morden construction industry.
