HPEG 2400 is a polyether monomer widely used as a primary raw material of polycarboxylate superplasticizers (PCE). Produced through the reaction of methallyl alcohol with ethylene oxide, it has an average molecular weight of approximately 2400. The product presents as a white to light yellow solid that is readily soluble in water. Its stable molecular architecture and high retention of reactive double bonds make it highly effective for polymerization reactions.
Thanks to its well-controlled molecular structure and strong reactivity, HPEG 2400 facilitates the formation of comb-shaped polymer chains, which contribute to effective dispersion and workability retention in cement-based systems. It also enables the production of superplasticizers characterized by low addition rates, high water-reducing capacity, and broad compatibility with different cement types — making it well-suited for use in high-performance concrete and mortar formulations.
